2.8.4.4: Perform Border and Port Inspection

This process shall perform the inspection of shipments and containers entering a port or crossing an international border. At land crossings, this process shall request vehicle pull-in for inspection. This process shall obtain clearance and manifest information from electronic devices on vehicles or containers at the inspection station. The process shall also perform electronic clearance of travelers passing through the port or border using traveler cards. The process shall share information with other border and port inspection systems and shall provide inspection results to the process that administers the customs/border clearance process.
