2.8.3.1: Provide Driver Interface for Intermodal Freight Dispatch
This process shall be responsible for providing the interface between the Fleet and Freight Management function and the Commercial Vehicle Driver function for the assignment and routing of intermodal shipment pickup and delivery. These include dispatch instructions for the pickup and drop-off of short-haul drayage assignments. This process shall receive internal data about the location and state of the commercial motor vehicle and its freight equipment from processes in the Provide Commercial Vehicle Data Collection function. The process shall also receive container location information from the Intermodal Terminal. This process shall receive the dispatch instructions from the Manage Drayage Operations, including the location of the pick-up/drop-off. This process shall then provide the driver with the route instructions and transport assignment details. When a dispatched operation is complete this process will notify the assigning function of the operation, its location, and confirmation of completion.
