2.8.4.3: Manage Border and Port Inspection
This process shall provide the administration for the border and port inspection function. The process shall communicate the status of customs/border clearance or a shipment to the intermodal customer, vessel service providers, vessel traffic service systems, distribution and logistics management provider, or fleet. This process shall interface with ocean carriers, vessel service providers, vessel traffic service systems, and other port stakeholders in order to ensure the safety of vessel traffic in a port facility. This process shall manage the locations of vessels entering and exiting the port and notifying the appropriate function when issues arise. The process shall interface with the Border and Port Inspection System functions of performing the inspection as well as providing security for the border or port area. The process shall provide a summary of inspection activity to the data archive function.
