5.8.7.3: Monitor Emergency Personnel Safety Status

This process shall be responsible for sensing and evaluating the likelihood of a collision between emergency or maintenance personnel and moving vehicles. The process shall base its detection on input from transmissions of nearby vehicles and positioning information from a location and time data source, e.g. a GPS receiver. This process shall receive location and safety information concerning the location of other vehicles in the vicinity from the roadside or its host (emergency or maintenance) vehicle. This process shall determine the probability of a collision based on the current location and the location of other moving vehicles. When an event is detected this process shall output the appropriate messages to another process to warn the personnel and the managing centers.
