What's New in SET-IT

The Systems Engineering Tool for Intelligent Transportation (SET-IT) is a software tool that integrates drawing and database tools with the Architecture Reference for Cooperative and Intelligent Transportation (ARC-IT) so that users can develop project architectures for ITS. SET-IT provides enhanced capabilities for project architecture development that go beyond the capabilities offered in RAD-IT. Be sure to install the latest updates to Microsoft Windows & Office before running SET-IT.

SET-IT Version 9.4 updated July 2026, now available for download, includes the following new-and-improved features:

• New Standards Map diagrams that let you output a Visio diagram for each service package showing the relevant standards for the elements, interfaces, and the service package as a whole.
• New diagram option to create a Layer 3 physical view diagram. Allowing for detailed analysis of the components and interfaces that make up a level 2 physical object.
• A Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) object is now available as an option to the connected vehicle roadside equipment (RSE) object on many service package diagrams.
• Diagram settings are now remembered from previous sessions and the Definitions grids now remember the previous sort order when reopened.
• A pre-installed custom spelling dictionary with architecture-specific terms.
• Support for user-defined Resource objects in Enterprise view.
• New class icon shapes for physical object shapes.
• New P-Object grouping box stencil item.
• Improved reporting during the Update Diagram process.
• Improved handling of Joint Agreements which are now restricted to stakeholder groups.
• Updated Physical Object Standards handling to account for regions.

Known Issues:

• Some users have noticed that SET-IT is still running after exiting; sometimes this only becomes apparent when you try to re-start SET-IT and it gets stuck at a certain point because the previous instance of SET-IT. The workaround is to use Task Manager to kill SET-IT and restart it.
• Some users have been unable to access the Help file within SET-IT. This may be due to a recent Microsoft 365 update. There is a PDF version of the Help file available from the ARC-IT website under Resources / Documents.
• Some users have reported that they get a System Resources Exceeded error. There is an option in the Advanced Options menu to increase the maximum number of file locks to try and alleviate this issue. If these issues continue, please contact the Help Desk.
• Following installation some users have reported an error that "Access Is denied" when they try to launch the tool due to a conflict between the SET-IT installation and your anti-virus software. Try temporarily disabling your anti-virus software and reinstalling SET-IT.
