2.8.5.1: Book Intermodal Shipments

This process shall provide the interface with the Intermodal Customer, e.g., a shipper, consignee, or third party logistics (3PL) provider to book a shipment, match it to a load, and manage payments and contracts, as required. This process shall interface with the Administer Commercial Vehicles to ensure all appropriate manifest data and customs are filed. This process shall interface with functions in the Provide Driver and Traveler Services function to establish a profile to monitor the shipment through the supply chain and to establish parameters for the optimal way to transport the goods through the system. This process shall provide an interface with a port information systems to supply the cargo or container information when a shipment is required to be transported by ocean vessel.
