This CWZ Implementation Guide and Standard addresses gaps identified by early deployers and
provides guidance for organizations seeking to develop interoperable connected work zones across the
United States, especially for automated transportation systems. It focuses on harmonizing the existing
Work Zone Data Exchange (WZDx) Specification, CWZ research and pilot deployments, and related
standards activities addressing connected work zones.
