Physical Object: Traffic Management Center

TMC ATSPM Data Analysis

Overview

'TMC ATSPM Data Analysis' carries out Automated Traffic Signal Performance Measures (ATSPM) and supports objectives and performance-based traffic signal operations, maintenance, and management. It collects high resolution (Hi-Res) signal controller and cabinet events data and uses this information to measure traffic signal performances and identifies maintenance issues for signal system infrastructure. It also suggests signal timing plan and can be passed to the TMC so that the signal timing suggestions can be reflected in future signal retiming activity. It provides an interface to traffic operation personnel and disseminates signal performance measure reports, charts and identified signal system infrastructure maintenance issues, including approach delay, approach speed, arrivals on red (AoR), and Purdue Coordination Diagrams (PCD). This functional object can be implemented either as an integrated module of the Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) or as a separate software application. The ATSPM application may be executed in another center and shared with the host center.

This functional object is included in the "Traffic Management Center" physical object.

Requirements

# Requirement
01The center shall receive, store, process and analyze high-resolution signal event data (detector, controller, cabinet) collected from field elements under remote control of the center to support signal performance evaluations.
02The center shall generate signal performance reports.
03The center shall use the collected information to measure the signal timing plans performance and suggest any modification needed.
04The center shall collect traffic signal infrastructure fault data from the field.
05The center shall use the collected information to identify problems of signal system infrastructure.
06The center shall provide the signal performance measures and the identified signal infrastructure problems to other functions for dissemination.
07In cases where automated traffic signal performance measures (ATSPM) are generated by another system, the center shall exchange ATSPM data and results with the other traffic management center.
08The center shall provide an interface for traffic operations personnel to disseminate the signal performance measures and the identified signal infrastructure problems.
09The center shall support the exchange of ATSPM data with other centers.

Standards

Currently, there are no standards associated with the functional object itself though the interfaces may have standards associated with them.
